Member of fossil fish order Cephalaspidiformes. They are abundant in rocks of late Silurian and lower Devonian periods.

Cephalaspids have fishlike bodies, with dorsal fins and a heterocercal tail (tail with unequal lobes). The large head is covered with a bony shield, and the flat ventral surface and dorsal eyes suggest a bottom-dwelling mode of life. The scales of the body are arranged in vertical rows and there are ten pairs of gill cavities.
